Laguindingan Airport got its name from it it host town -Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental. If my memory servers me right, new airports are made to serve two or more major cities/towns like the Bacolod-Silay; the future Panglao Airport (which will serve both Bohol and Panglao Islands; and this one -Laguindingan Airport which will serve both cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan (Lanao del Norte). Sadly, since this airport is about more or less 50 kilometers from CDO and/or Iligan, going to the said airport is now - as of this writing - a big question. Here's what I gathered so far.
As of now, Laguindingan Airport have no facilities to night flights thus all flights to and from here are from 6am to 6pm only. Cagayan de Oro (CDO in laymans term; CGY in airport code) flights are as follows (as of 21 June 2013 and this will change without prior notice, visit your airline website for more accurate details on their flights)
Cebu Pacific Air have : 7 flights from Manila plus 5 flights from Cebu plus 1 each from Bacolod, Davao, Iloilo and Zamboanga, for a total of 32 flights.
Philippine Airlines (operated by PAL Express) have: 5 flights from Manila plus 2 from Cebu plus 1 from Davao, a total of 16 flights.
AirAsia (operated by ZestAir) have a total of 6 to and from Manila.
Shuttles and Taxis:
The airport is situated near the sea and nearly a kilometer from the highway. Many are skeptical to ride a taxi due to its expensive fare due to distance of about 50Km or about an hour ride. Good thing Shuttle Services are now growing in numbers. here's some of the options: (info taken from Laguindingan Airport Facebook page http://preview.tinyurl.com/k829dcx)
For sure this will be amended as time goes and I'll just blog about it when it came. As for me, I guess I'll use the LAX Shuttle and / or Super 5. Its close to my destination and as an immigrant, I know Gaisano-Centrio area better than other areas/routes.
